Career
1967 - 1970 worked in VTR for the BBC at Television
Centre, London, including training.
1970 - 1991 joined ATV from the BBC in July 1970, as a
sound trainee in the then new studio centre in Birmingham. After a
period of initial training in the studios, I joined the outside
broadcast department in 1973, remaining there until 1981, when I transferred
to the film unit as a sound recordist, it was also at this time Central
TV took over the Midlands franchise from ATV. I worked for the film unit
until 1991, when like many of my colleagues, I was made redundant, and
became freelance in March 1991 (thank you Mrs. Thatcher!!).
1991 - > continuing to work as a freelance
sound recordist on video, film and outside broadcasts.
In
addition to sound, I also offer a comprehensive kit of mini-cam & DV
equipment which can be used to advantage on many types of production,
including the usual 'in car' applications as seen on programmes such as
the BBC's Top Gear, and
Carlton Tv's Pulling Power.
Having worked on many 'investigative' programmes over the years, I am
also able to offer covert facilities, both sound & camera.
What
ever your production needs may be, I can quickly assemble experienced
crews from 2 man, sound & camera, upto full drama, across all craft
areas, drawing on the wealth of contacts I have made over the years, in
all cases recommendations would be made on proven track
records.
